Lucy died Feb. 22, 2011 at the University of Tennessee Veterinary Hospital at the age of 24...not nearly long enough. She was the most beloved mare ever by all STAR volunteers. "Her gentle spirit will live on in her stall commemorated to her memory", said Karen Owens, co-founder. "It seems the bigger the horse, the bigger her heart and the bigger the hole it leaves in ours. She is missed by all who knew her. "
